Not bad for the burbs. Typical Italian-American family restaurant where the portions are obscenely large (think chicken parm that is bigger than your head accompanied by a bowl of spaghetti). I had the manicotti. It was tasty and huge, not much else to say about it. The mussels that came to the table smelled really fishy so I did not partake (I love mussels but I wasn't taking any chances). The hot, fresh baked bread is a nice touch but I hate those little rock hard butter packets that they give you. They shouldn't even bother with the salad to start the meal. There's nothing good about bland iceberg lettuce topped with big raw onion slices and a couple of grape tomatoes. Note: they don't have brick oven pizza as advertised on their sign and on their online menu. Judging from the reviews they haven't had it in years. They really should update that. Service was friendly and attentive. BYOB. Not a bad place but I'd never go out of my way to dine here.

Boy, did that person who coined the phrase "Don't judge a book by its cover" say it right! We were in search of a dinner destination on a Friday night after running some errands. Our last stop was PepBoys and we spotted this place just next door. We assumed it was your typical Italian pizza shop based upon the sign outside but what we ended up walking into was a very nice establishment! We were completely under-dressed but they still sat us. Most of the men were wearing slacks and dress shirts and the women in blouses or dresses. We were sat and then we did have to wait a bit; there was some confusion on who was going to serve us. Our waiter did finally arrive and was very apologetic and friendly throughout the entire meal. Food was really good although we found it odd that there was no pizza on the menu considering they advertise as a Brick Oven Pizzeria and Raw Bar. I started out with a special app which was bacon wrapped shrimp with a maple glaze, very good. My woman had oysters. All but one were pretty good. Entrees were HUGE! They definitely don't skimp on the servings. She had a seafood medley pasta dish and I had a chicken medallion special with marsala sauce, mushrooms, spinach and mozz. We were very satisfied and enjoyed our visit. Once our service started they were attentive and frequent in their visits but not too frequent. It is BYOB so bring your fav wine! Great family-run atmosphere

Excellent food , presentation, and service. The three items.I tried were all on special and fantastic. After the server told me the specials I didn't even look at the menu . One word of caution - BYOB. No liquor or wine available in house, although you can stop at a wegmans a few blocks away and bring it in. Food was awesome.

Terrible service, I have waited two hours with six in the party. Children are restless. Never again

I had dinner at Ariana's last night and enjoyed it very much. I had never heard of the place and was taken there by a friend. While the prices seemed a bit high, the food was excellent, and the portions was more than generous. We decided to split the antipasto and it's a good thing because even with two working on it, it was more than we could eat and still have appetite for the main course. We both had flounder stuffed with crabmeat in a lobster sauce. The side dish of pasta with marinara sauce seemed odd at first with fish, but since we both ate every bite, it apparently worked quite well. The bread was fresh and warm and crusty and they replenished it without being asked. Again, very generous portions. The pace was leisurely, the wait staff was attentive, and the acoustics are good. Even with the place crowded, we were able to have a normal conversation without raising our voices or straining to hear. I will definitely be back.

This has the best pizza in the whole area in my opinion. it's the only place where they're able keep the pizza crispy when you take-out too which apparently is very hard to do. You can taste it's freshness. I have never had any of they're entrees but i would imagine that just as much care is put into them as their pizza. My only complaint is that on some busy weekend nights they close down the pizza oven because it's to inconvenient to go to that part of the kitchen? It's a shame when that does happen because there is no pizza place quite like this. Still my favorite.

I will tell you what...tonight was my first time here and the food was excellent. Was much better than my last THREE South Philly eating attempts, all famed places. Really. I had the antipasto and the shrimp and scallops with lobster cream sauce. It was 9/10 easily. All of the seafood was very fresh and there was lots of it!! They bake their own bread which is also great. Staff was very nice. Excellent. I will be back. p.s. Brian H. is not correct. Their menu is a lot more creative than many Italian places, ESPECIALLY in this crappy area. Their specials tonight were to die for...awesome creations that had me wanting to order 3-4 meals at once.

What happened to the pizza?! Apparently they are no longer serving brick oven pizza at this location. Disappointing. Anyhow, this byob is otherwise a great place to get Italian-American entrees. My mom is in love with the lasagna and my sister and husband have an equal liking for the carbonara. I usually order the red snapper served with kalamata olives, tomatoes, capers and onions. You get your choice of soup or salad and pasta or vegetables with any main entree. The specials are enticing but the prices are 25-35 percent more than the priciest menu item, so if you are looking to spend less than $25 or $30 on your entree, don't order from the specials. I had two bad meals at Ariana's (out of about 40 or more). One was when I ordered mussels. They tasted less than fresh- so much so that I had to send them back. The other was after I ordered either breaded tilapia or flounder. Something tasted off. 2 bad meals after over 10 years of frequent visits is pretty good, I think. All in all I would definitely continue going to Ariana's. I think it's a great place for larger parties because not only do they have the room, they can handle the service issues associated with a large party. If you bring your own cake, be prepared to pay about $3 per person for plating. (No corking fee for beverages). My only request, especially after dumping the pizza, would be to revamp the menu. After 10 plus years it's getting a bit like groundhog's day.

I ate lunch at Ariana's today after an absence of about 6 months. My only excuse for not going there more frequently is that I rarely travel to the North Wales area. Ariana's is a spacious Italian BYOB in a small shopping center on North Wales Road in North Wales, It is not located in Lansdale, as posted elsewhere on this site. I was amazed to find that Ariana's still serves great food and huge portions at a time when other restaurants have shrunken the size of their meals, reduced the quality of their food and jacked up prices. My lunch companion ordered her favorite (chicken parmigiana) while I ordered my favorite (chicken marsala). Just like in the past, the portions were massive and the food arrived hot. The entrees were attractively presented and scrumptious. A basket of hot, fresh, very crusty bread accompanied our meal. The bread is delicious! A house salad came with our meals -- an ample bowl of crispy, bite size lettuce, cucumbers, lots of shredded carrot and two large cherry tomatoes. The salad dressings (blue cheese and balsamic vinaigrette) were tasty. Our lunches -- more than half of which we took home for later meals -- were just over TEN DOLLARS each. Such a wonderful dining experience for so little money. Two sidebars: 1) Our overly serious waitress became warmer throughout the dining experience and was downright friendly by the time we left. Our tip rewarded her well for her warmth and efficiency. 2) Restroom cleanliness has dramatically deteriorated since my visit last Fall.

this is a place that does the basics and does it quite well. the menu has been basically the same for the past 10 years. bread and salads are excellent. entrees are tasty and nicely priced for the amount of food. the renovated dining room was a nice upgrade. nothing spectacular here, good solid traditional italian dishes, consistently good quality and good service.

A lovely Italian BYOB in North Wales. The address is actually North Wales Rd not Main St Lansdale, but the website listed here is correct. Nice selection of pasta, chicken, and veal dishes. Has most of the italian classics, but no baked ziti. Bummer cause its my fav. Reasonably priced. The same waitstaff has been there for years. Very attentive service. Portions are huge and there's always leftovers for the next day. They have a raw bar too, but I've never tried it. Not a big fan of raw fish. Red sauce is excellent, I judge Italian Restaurants by their sauce. Very fresh and flavorfull. Grab a bottle of red and give them a try. You won't be dissapointed!

Went there last night for a 50th birthday celebration for a very dear friend. They were able to accommodate our party of 23 with no problem with a u shaped table configuration which allowed good interaction between all the guests. As usual food was outstanding featuring excellent appetizers (calamari, mussels and caprese salad) and always large portion dinners. Had seafood ravioli which is always great. The service for this event was beyond outstanding!!! Tony our waiter set up a bar for us for all our wines, beers and mixed drinks and acted as our bartender as well as our server. He was outstanding as he made sure glasses and hands were ways full. I would ask for him if planning a party here. If u are looking for great Italian food and great service Ariana's is the place.

I am sorry I cannot give this place more than 2 stars. 2 stars = Meh. I've experienced better. And I most certainly have. Entrees are served with a choice of salad or soup. We chose the salad. Four or five 1.5 inch pieces of totally flavorless iceberg lettuce and 2 halves of a grape tomato doesn't equal a good salad. I've had better at, let me see, ANYWHERE. The Italian bread is fresh and good. Whoopeee! Does anyone else have trouble getting those thumbnail sized butter packets open? Are we at a Diner? The entrees were, well, lets just say it was food. The salmon special was a decent sized filet, overcooked, sitting on a bed of rice with the balance of the grape tomatoes which should have been on my friggin' salad. The white wine/olive oil/garlic base for wetness for the dry dish included browned large chunks of garlic. Oooooops, ate a couple of those by mistake. So this visit, I see the kitchen completed the second semester of HS home economics and threw tomatoes at the special instead of those, bland, canned black olives they used to douse the dishes with. My friend ordered the flounder stuffed with crabmeat. Again, a nice sized piece of fish, but cooked into mush, including the flounder. The mixed vegetables were fine. Matt, our server was very very good and efficient. The busperson, well that's another story. We had taken 2 bites of our salad, were chewing, had forks in hand, and he pops by and says "are you still working on the salads"? 2 minutes later, the same thing. When we were through, he was nowhere to be found, our server had to clear the dishes. OK, maybe the young kid was overly excited with his first job. But then the entrees were served. The same thing, the busperson came up to the table with 80% of our meal on the plate, we had forks in hand, were chewing, and he asked if we were "still working on our dinner". This time it was funny, I laughed and said "we just started eating, the dinner just arrived". He went away, returned 5 minutes later and asked again. The restaurant was only half full, so he wasn't trying to turn the table over. I said "can you please leave us alone, we are not done". He mumbled something under his breath while walking away in disgust. We never saw him again. Hey, there is a loyal fan base, but this is what I see: good bread, poor salad, unexciting, overcooked, low-flavored fish specials, good server, hyper busperson. Those who hate my review, have at it, enjoy yourself. By the way, check the website for the correct address and location, the address listed above is incorrect.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
